# What is Meisa and how does it work?

Meisa is the email stack for SaaS founders: broadcasts, sequences, automations, transactional emails, contacts and newsletters in one place. You build and schedule your emails in Meisa, and they are sent through an email provider you connect, usually your own Amazon SES account, so you pay that provider for sending at cost.

## How it works

1. **You connect your email provider.** Meisa sends through Amazon SES or another provider you already use (SendGrid, Postmark, Resend, Mailgun or SMTP). Meisa does not mark up your sending.
2. **You verify your domain and add a sender.** This proves the address you send from is yours, so your mail reaches the inbox.
3. **You bring in your contacts.** Import a CSV, add people one by one, or send them from your app with the API.
4. **You write and send.** Send one-off broadcasts, set up sequences that run on their own, and fire transactional emails (like a welcome or a receipt) from your app.
5. **Meisa tracks the results.** You see opens, clicks, bounces and unsubscribes, and Meisa handles unsubscribe links and suppressed addresses for you.

## What you can do in Meisa

- **Broadcasts:** one email to a list or segment, sent now or scheduled.
- **Sequences:** a series of emails with delays and conditions, like onboarding or a trial nudge.
- **Automations:** rules that react to what your users do.
- **Transactional emails:** emails your app sends one at a time, through triggers or the API.
- **Templates:** reusable email designs, with approved variations.
- **Contacts:** people, custom fields, tags and segments.
- **Newsletter and Courses:** a public signup page and lesson-a-day email courses.
- **Meisa Chat and the Claude connector:** draft and analyze emails with AI, or run Meisa from Claude.
- **API and webhooks:** connect your app and get email events back.

## Products keep things separate

In Meisa, a **product** is one app or brand you send email for. Each product has its own contacts, emails and sending setup. If you run more than one app, add a product for each and switch between them from the product menu at the top of the sidebar.
